Kosovo is a high inland basin ringed by mountains, and it behaves like one. Pristina sits at around 650 metres and averages a daily maximum of 29 C in July and August, with January at 4 C. Winter is cold and grey and the capital's air quality is at its worst then, which is a real consideration if you are sleeping in a vehicle in the city.

The Pristina row is a 1991 to 2020 normal from the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo. The Peja and Prizren rows are 1961 to 1990 normals, which is a much older period, and they read cooler partly for that reason. Treat them as the shape of the year rather than as this decade's numbers.
