Most of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a mountain country, and it is best from May to early October. Sarajevo sits at about 500 metres and averages 4 °C in January against 28 °C in August, with rain spread evenly through the year rather than concentrated in a wet season. Winter is winter here: this is a country that hosted a Winter Olympics, and the passes carry snow.

The year by region: how it feels, how warm, how wet
BestWorkableToo hotCold or wetTop figure: average daily high. Below it: average rainfall for the month.
All five rows are mean daily maximum temperatures and monthly rainfall. Sarajevo, Mostar, Trebinje and Banja Luka are on 1991 to 2020 normals. The Bihać row is on 1961 to 1990 normals from the Meteorological Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina, so read it as the shape of the year rather than as this decade's figures. Mostar's record high in the same source is 46.2 °C.
