The valley floor is comfortable from May to October and the mountain above it runs on a different calendar. Vaduz sits at 457 metres and its MeteoSwiss normals for 1991 to 2020 give an average daily maximum of 20 °C in May, 25 in July and 20 again in September. January averages 5 °C by day. That is a mild reading for the Alps, and the reason is the föhn, the warm dry wind down off the mountains that lengthens spring and autumn here.

The year on the valley floor: how it feels, how warm, how wet

One row, and that is deliberate. Vaduz is the only station in the country with published normals, and the figures above are MeteoSwiss 1991 to 2020 for a station at 457 metres. Malbun is at 1,600 metres, has no published normal, and no station near enough at that altitude stands in for it honestly. Expect the mountain to be several degrees colder than the strip in every month, and under snow when the valley is not.
