The van season in the Netherlands runs from late April to the end of September and that is most of it. The whole country sits in the same maritime climate, so there is no warm corner to escape to in winter and no cool one to escape to in August. What changes across the map is small: Maastricht in the far south runs about three degrees warmer in July than Den Helder in the north, and that is the entire spread.

The year by region: how it feels, how warm, how wet
BestWorkableToo hotCold or wetTop figure: average daily high. Below it: average rainfall for the month.
The colours are our judgement about the region as a whole, crowding included, and the figures are published KNMI normals for 1991 to 2020 at the station named in each row. That is why July and August read as merely acceptable on the coast while the temperature says otherwise: the weather is fine, the ferries and the camperplaatsen are full.
