Sweden has one season for van life and it is June to August. May and September are the shoulders, good in Skåne and along the west coast and unreliable further north. From October to April most of the country is a winter destination rather than a campervan destination, and the north is dark, frozen and demanding. Nowhere in Sweden gets hot: the warmest station on this page, Malmö, averages a daily maximum of 23 °C in July.

The year by region: how it feels, how warm, how wet
BestWorkableToo hotCold or wetTop figure: average daily high. Below it: average rainfall for the month.
The bands describe how a month feels in a van, not how interesting it is. The northern lights season in Lapland runs through the dark months, and people do drive vans up for it. That is a winter expedition with a diesel heater, winter tyres of the right tread depth and a plan for what happens if a road closes behind you, not a summer trip in warmer clothes. Mosquitoes are the other honest warning: inland and northern Sweden in July is one of the worst places in Europe for them.
