Basics
Basics
Andorra is not in the EU or Schengen area, although access is by road through France or Spain. Carry the identity and vehicle documents required for both the transit country and Andorra. Check visa and re-entry conditions for your nationality before crossing.
Andorra uses the euro and 230V European sockets. EU roaming-at-home rules do not automatically cover Andorra, so check prices or disable mobile data before the border. Download maps and road information because valleys and mountain routes can have coverage gaps.
Before arrival
- Carry your licence, registration and valid insurance evidence.
- Confirm that your insurance and breakdown cover include Andorra.
- Check mobile roaming charges separately from France and Spain.
Mountain preparation
- Know the vehicle's height, weight and turning needs.
- Download the Mobilitat road-status information.
- Fill water and secure loose items before steep, winding roads.

Common questions about Andorra by campervan
Can you sleep in a campervan in Andorra?
Only at an authorised campsite, camping zone or designated motorhome stay area. Ordinary camper parking is daytime parking unless it is separately approved for overnight use.
Are winter tyres or chains compulsory in Andorra?
From 1 November to 15 May vehicles must be ready with special equipment. Chains or an equivalent must be used on snowy or icy roads unless qualifying winter or M+S tyres cover the requirement.
Does EU mobile roaming include Andorra?
Not automatically. Andorra is outside the EU and EEA roaming regime. Check your provider's Andorra tariff or disable roaming before crossing.
When is the easiest time to visit Andorra by campervan?
June to September is easiest for general touring. Winter requires suitable tyres or chains, live road checks and a confirmed authorised overnight site.
